City Parks Foundation Meeting: A Boathouse in Greenpoint?

An upcoming City Parks Foundation meeting will be held to consider the allocation of money to community proposals for environmental improvement and education.

Our friends and neighbors at GWAPP (Greenpoint Waterfront Association for Parks & Planning) are submitting a proposal to the city for a Greenpoint Boathouse.

In GWAPP's words, "The proposal is to rebuild the existing bulkhead along the Newtown Creek side of the Greenpoint Manufacturing and Design Center (GMDC) at 1155-1205 Manhattan Avenue and use space in the (now empty) ground floor that opens on to the bulkhead for a combination environmental education center/training facility/boat storage facility."

A rendering of the proposed bulkhead is above.

If you are interested in learning more about the proposal and expressing your opinions to the City Parks Foundation, please drop by for the meeting.
